28th. After dinner returned up hill, changed our matches.
29th. Walked down to Clifton.
30th. Went out shooting Wharrees.
1st. July Saw through the spy glass the Mandeville entering the Bogues mouth, she sent her boat ashore
for letters, my Father ran up hill to write them, this is the first opportunity we have had since we
have been here; bought a bunch of bananas.
2nd. Gathering wood to smoke the mosquitoes.
3rd. Sunday Went on board the Teazer, with my Father and returned up hill in the dark, caught some
fire flies.
4th. Copying letters all day.
5th. Made a mouse trap, but they were too cunning for me.
6th. Went with my Father to clear a passage through a wood to get the Papaws, he had a pole and I
had a manchette, called a mossette. drank my Mothers health as usual etc. A very large snake crossed me
on the hill.
7th. Read to my Father in bed.
8th. Mr S. killed a hog which only lasts for one meal.
